UEI Research Associate Felipé Furtado, MD, to join McKinsey Consulting

We are proud to share that UEI U-M Research Associate Felipé Furtado, MD, will begin work as an associate at McKinsey Consulting later this year. Felipe is set to finish his MBA studies at U-M Ross School of Business in May. He came to U-M from Brazil after receiving his medical degree and then doing postgraduate work at Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Felipé worked as an entrepreneurship fellow in the U-M Ross School of Business Impact Studio in the Fall of 2024, where he met UEI president David Tarver, who was serving as a faculty coach in the Studio. Upon witnessing Felipe’s talent and interpersonal skills, David offered Felipé a position on the UEI/U-M research team. Felipé began working with the team, and quickly ascended to a leadership role. He was a key member of the UEI team’s work with McKinsey to define the elements of the new Urban Innovator Platform. McKinsey was so impressed with Felipé’s work that they hired him as an Associate Intern for the summer of 2025. Based on Felipé’s outstanding performance in that role, McKinsey extended an offer of employment in the Fall of 2025. He will be based in McKinsey’s Detroit office.

Felipé continues to do outstanding work for the U-M Impact Studio and for UEI. You can bet that, although both organizations will miss Felipé’s day-to-day contributions in the future, both will strive to stay connected with him. Felipé is a man on the move.
